Who we are

The Slum and Rural Health Initiative (SRHIN-Ethiopia) is a nonprofit organization that commenced operations in April 2020 and is officially registered in Ethiopia under Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No. 1113/2019 (Registration number 4893). Our mission is to improve access to healthcare information and services for vulnerable and underserved communities in Ethiopia, utilizing advocacy, research, and technology.

The Team

Abraham Sahilemichael (PhD)

Currently serving as a Program Director at SRHIN-Ethiopia, Abraham holds a PhD in Public Health and has extensive experience in digital health, women’s health and health systems in low- and middle-income countries.

Takele Birhanu

Serving as the Country Coordinator for SRHIN-Ethiopia, Takele brings over 8 years of experience in project and program management.

COVID-19 Vaccination champions campaign

Funded by the Global Youth Mobilization Fund, this project focused on raising awareness and promoting COVID-19 vaccination in communities throughout Ethiopia, particularly in pastoral areas.

Access to health and education project

In partnership with and funded by Minority Rights Group International, this project aimed to research access to health and education among indigenous communities in Addis Ababa and the Itu-Kereru pastoral communities.
